Hannah’s Lament – When Mother’s Day Is Too Painful

May 11, 2019 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

Have you had a miscarriage or baby loss? Are you going through the grief of infertility? Mother’s Day weekend can be a harsh reminder of broken hearts and dashed hopes.

The pain and grief of baby loss, miscarriage and infertility is especially deep on this weekend.   Hannah’s Lament seeks to provide sacred space for active listening, remembering, and sharing our stories. We will have opportunity to share in lament with one another, light a candle, and express our hearts through art journaling. (optional)

In the Bible, in the book of 1 Samuel there is a story of a woman named Hannah that was desperate to conceive and was overwrought with grief and cried out to God in prayer at the temple. In our culture, there is often no room for open lament and we would like to offer a safe space to come together to be seen and heard.

Facilitator: Mindy Braun knows the painful side of Mother’s Day though miscarriage and infertility. She knows what it’s like to hide in the bathroom at church and weep. Her heart is to offer support and a safe haven for lament.
