WEEK FOUR

Herod the Great, a ruler known to suffer from depression and paranoia, is described as one who would be “prepared to commit any crime in order to gratify his unbounded ambition.” It was during the dark days of Herod’s rule when Jesus was born, and it’s fitting that images of light are a part of the story of his arrival – a star shining in the East, the glory of angels shining round about the shepherds.

It’s hard to watch the news in 2018 without feeling a sense of the darkness in our modern world. Oh, how we need to touch into the Light always present with us, and to bear that light in unbearable times.

On this fourth week of Advent we prepare to celebrate the birth of Jesus by spending time with the shepherds who were startled in the night by angels, went to see the Christ-child, and then, filled with joy, spread the light to everyone they met. Join us as we reflect on the blessing of LIGHT BEARING with seasonal music, contemplative readings, and prayerful meditation.
